Epigenetics publishes peer-reviewed original research and review articles that provide an unprecedented forum where epigenetic mechanisms and their role in diverse biological processes can be revealed, shared, and discussed. Epigenetics research studies heritable changes in gene expression caused by mechanisms others than the modification of the DNA sequence. Epigenetics therefore plays critical roles in a variety of biological systems, diseases, and disciplines. Topics of interest include (but are not limited to):DNA methylationNucleosome positioning and modificationGene silencingImprintingNuclear reprogrammingChromatin remodelingNon-coding RNANon-histone chromosomal elementsDosage compensationNuclear organizationEpigenetic therapy and diagnosticsNutrition and environmental epigeneticsCancer epigeneticsNeuroepigeneticsCancer has been traditionally the main focus of epigenetic studies; however, recent data suggest that epigenetics plays critical roles in all basic processes of life. Our journal provides a platform for the communication of methodologies, hypotheses, experimental approaches, and diagnostic agents by researchers working in a variety of systems who are unraveling the epigenetic facets of their specific fields of interest.
